About
For a year 1/2, I did everything right. I applied. I networked. I interviewed. I waited. At some point I stopped asking why no one would hire me and started asking a different question: why am I waiting for someone else's permission to use my gifts? So I stopped waiting.I spent seven years teaching elementary school in California. I loved the work. I didn't love what the system kept doing to it. When I finally left in 2022, I still had this fire inside me — this thing I'd been carrying since I wrote a children's financial literacy book during my teaching credential program in 2018 and then put in a drawer.I took it out of the drawer. In 2026 I published Blart Boogerswatch Vs. His Wallet — a picture book I wrote and illustrated myself about a goofy little monster who gets fifty birthday dollars and has a very educational terrible day with them. It's for kids ages 5–10. It's funny. It's honest. The ending isn't a fairy tale. That's intentional. Because money isn't a fairy tale either. And the earlier kids understand that choices have real consequences — the better adults they become.I now bring author-led financial literacy events to schools, community organizations, and banks. I do every event myself, because the story is what makes it land, and the story is mine.If you work with kids, parents, or communities — or you host a podcast about parenting, education, or personal finance — let's talk.stephanie.cox@moneymonstersllc.com · blartboogerswatch.com
