About
Versatile editor with a mastery of voice, diligent commitment to detail, and lifelong love of learning. Familiar with AP, Chicago, NLM, MLA, and other styles, as well as journal, book, and digital content formats. Masters in Publishing from The George Washington University. ••• Public service and storytelling are my greatest passions. As an editor of scholarly publications, my work facilitates deeper conversations about complex ideas that could truly change the world for the better. Every project is an opportunity to discover something new: a new subject matter, a new insight, a new perspective. No matter the genre, good editing practices both curiosity and empathy, collaborating with authors to polish the work into which they have already poured so much of themselves. I am immensely grateful to be in this field and look forward to all the editing adventures still ahead of me! ••• Special interests include: philosophy, ethics, international human rights, literacy, girls' education, gender equity, neuroscience, psychology, linguistics, and environmental conservation.

Undergraduate Researcher

This was part of a research colloquium in the Dept. of Psychology and Neuroscience, titled “Tolerance in the Marketplace of Ideas”.

President
Secular Students of Carolina
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Gathered student members for weekly meetings to discuss current events, socialize, and engage in empathetic conversation about their lived experiences as nonreligious people in a world that is often ignorant, and sometimes hostile, towards those who exist outside of organized religion. Presented research each week on a different topic under the theme of religion and/or secularism, opening the floor for students to share their own perspectives and exchange ideas. Held occasional outreach events to increase the visibility of nonreligious students on campus, encourage healthy and respectful debate along the spectrum of belief, and destigmatize atheism/agnosticism, particularly in the deep American South. Worked with student members to perform community service and participate in local advocacy work to give back to our Carolina community.
