Stella G. Uzogara PhD, MS, CFS, LDN, RDN, FAND

Teacher education Evaluation and Strategy fellow, supporting teachers funded by the Noyce Scholarship Program.

Responsible for reviewing existing and new surveillance systems, and developing evaluation strategies for state plans, analyzing data collected for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) WIC/Nutrition and Primary Care Division programs. For Nutrition, examine causes of nutritional deficiency and resultant birth and early childhood morbidity due to environmental, demographic and genetic risk factors; develop surveillance and program evaluation plans and conduct evaluations; analyze data and disseminate findings to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC), MDPH staff and other external collaborators. Works closely with nutrition programs such as WIC to support needs assessment, program design, quality assurance, evaluation, surveillance and policy development. Coordinator of Pediatric Nutrition Surveillance Systems(PedNSS) , Pregnancy Nutrition Surveillance System(PNSS) and WIC Needs Assessment (WICNA) for over ten years. Stella Uzogara is an accomplished researcher and author with over thirty published scientific papers,including research & review articles, in peer reviewed journals. Her science publications are visible in ResearchGate; Stella made several health presentations and conducted in service training for program staff on cultural competence and sensitivity.

Adjunct Professor: Bio-manufacturing & Biotech in the joint program known as BEST (Building Essential Skills through Training), 2002-2005 as needed. -Coordinator and primary faculty for the first biotechnology program at RCC in 2002 for workforce development of industry and healthcare workers. -Also taught & supervised Biology, Micro-Biology & Chemistry lecture and lab classes, managed laboratories & student projects, 2002 to 2007; -Taught Nutrition classes, labs and projects 2007 to present(2016); -Professor of nutrition and other life sciences tailored to Allied Health Sciences & Nursing students comprising under-served minority and multicultural students at RCC from 2003 to 2016;-Currently, Evening/Weekend professor of Nutrition at RCC’s Division of Continuing Education. -Performed other academic work which included student advising & mentoring, seminars, classroom management, service learning, community service and lab supervision; - Contributed to successful graduation of many under-served and multicultural students who later got admitted to four year colleges or got job placements in health care & other industry 2002-2016;

Academy Diversity Leader in the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics' Diversity Leaders Program- June 2015-June 2017; Chicago Illinois & Boston Massachusetts; -Participation in a two-year program that supports active members from under-represented and under-served population groups within the Nutrition and Dietetics Profession; -Providing support, education, access, volunteer and service opportunities to individuals from under-represented population groups; -Encourage more diverse, nutrition, food & dietetics professionals to assume leadership roles -Develop more diverse leadership pool within the nutrition and dietetics profession; -Main aim at local level is to increase diversity in membership and participation in the Massachusetts Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (MAND) as well as The Academy at the national level, by several efforts such as- -Providing education & networking opportunities to minority leaders and youths; -Encouraging minority professionals in nutrition, life sciences, and allied health professions to join the MAND, and the Academy and to participate in leadership opportunities in nutrition at local, state and national levels. -Collaborating with The Boston Organization of Nutritionists and Dietitians of Color (aka BOND of Color) to increase diversity in the MAND and the Academy. -Networking with dietetic practice groups and member interest groups in the Academy, as well as members of under-served and under-represented groups to determine relevant and attractive programs. -Facilitate establishment of the Diversity Liaison in the state of Massachusetts by applying for the Academy's Diversity Liaison grant.

Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Foundation Kids Eat Right Campaign- Fighting Hunger in our Communities; Arlington Massachusetts -Helped coach over 500 students in Arlington Massachusetts Public Schools(both Middle school and High School); -Taught the benefits of healthy breakfast and balanced nutrition to school children and adolescents for good academic performance, good health and athletic performance; -Coached high school students to improve their nutrition and physical activity, food selection and food choices for better health; -Taught high school students the importance good food , hydration and physical activity and how their nutritional intake can positively affects their academic & athletic performance, their health and good looks.

Teaching & supervision - undergraduate lectures, labs, seminars & tutorials in health and nutrition for business students and non-science majors at Bentley University Waltham MA campus; -Also traveled to Bahrain in the Middle East and taught Health and Nutrition at Bentley University satellite campus at Manama, Bahrain. -Supervised and mentored Bentley students doing service learning projects-the "Mmofra Trom Project for Self Sustainability" in Ghana West Africa; -Supervised community service projects in Waltham MA campus; -Participated in public health research -"the Sickle Cell Anemia Project in Brazil"-a joint project of Bentley University and University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.; -Co-presented a paper on nutritional management of sickle cell disease during the Sickle Cell Anemia Conference held in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil in 2006. -Contributed to successful graduation of Bentley University students who took my Health and Nutrition classes.

Academic Work-As adjunct professor, taught Biology lectures, did Lab Supervision, classroom and laboratory management, student advising and mentoring,seminar supervision and course grading.

Department of Food Science & Human Nutrition, Iowa State University, Ames Iowa. -Successfully completed internship rotations in clinical, community, food service and school settings. -Successfully passed the Board examinations for Registration administered by CDR & ACEND. and became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). 2013 to present. -Successfully became a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) in the state of Massachusetts 2013 to present.
