Engaged in studies to determine the energy-use baseline for a variety of metallic and non-metallic mines on an 'all fuels' basis. Evaluating the economical and energy benefits of a novel comminution flowsheet, comprising of 2 stage HPGR processing followed by high speed stirred milling, in comparison to an SABC based circuit for an operating mine. Providing independent consulting services on application of high pressure grinding rolls (HPGR) to crushing/grinding of metallic and non-metallic ores. Analyzing SAG mill drive performance.

Technical sales of High Pressure Grinding Roll (HPGR) equipment in Canada. Technical support of roller presses in Canada, USA and Japan. Koeppern representative for the CAMIRO HPGR research program aimed at developing a laboratory scale test for HPGR. Sponsors included Barrick, Teck, SGS, Vale and COREM. Carried out numerous HPGR pilot test evaluations including gold, copper, nickel and iron ore applications. Process design and modelling using JKSimMet and simulation using ExtendSim. Working out of Perth, Australia, I was involved with the commissioning of HPGRs and provided mechanical and process support. Carried out numerous HPGR test programs to generate data for process design and HPGR sizing. Onesteel Whyalla (iron ore) - Operation of pilot HPGR test programs to generate further metallurgical results prior to site installation. Preparation of two HPGRs for commissioning, first ore trials and process improvement after completion of ramp-up. Bendigo Gold - Preparation of one HPGR for commissioning, first ore trials and full-production. Involved with data analysis of DCS data for process improvement after completion of ramp-up.
