Project Officer
Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Fugee HiEd is committed to advancing higher education access for the diverse refugee community in Malaysia. One of our main programmes is the Fugee HiEd Scholarship, which is a Bachelor’s degree scholarship, awarded to qualified and deserving refugee students living in Malaysia. As Project Officer with a focus on the scholarship programme, I've: - Arranged for and executed the pilot phase of an internship programme for our scholars. - Organised and led outreach sessions to inform other organisations of our programmes. - Organised Fugee Org's first open mic event along wit Fugee HiEd's annual scholarship award ceremony. - Become the first point of contact for our 50+ scholars. - Coordinated educational and/or social engagement sessions for our scholars. - Maintained good ties with our partners, FutureLab and Humankind, to coordinate availability of mentorship sessions and mental health services. - Contributed to the Fugee HiEd team in coming up with our five-year roadmap. - Written reports quarterly to ensure our donors are well-informed of all our initiatives and impact.

Online Tutor
I continued in this part-time role with FunMaths because I truly believed the syllabus the founder created helps build the foundations of mathematics well for the students. I genuinely enjoy teaching and am currently sticking with one student for regular lessons but help out when I can with other lessons.

Qur'an Quest Teacher Partner
So far, I have experienced teaching young children and teenagers. During our Qur'an Quest (QQ) sessions, we learn both tajweed and tadabbur together. We follow a syllabus created by SoulDigest in order for smooth running classes and Alhamdulillah have fun digging into the tafseer of surahs and asking questions on what the surahs mean for us.

Academic Officer
SoulDigest aims to set the global standard in Islamic Education, on a mission to bring back joy & structure to Islamic studies. Offering focus & extended programs for kids, teens & adults with the goal of shaping confident Muslims. My role as academic officer allows me to: - Work with the academic team to provide and update content for Qur'an Quest (QQ) classes. - Discuss and brainstorm ideas for the programs that run. - Organise new programs (online and on-site) for wider audiences and varying Islamic topics.

Global Immersion Guarantee (GIG) Pastoral
Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
GIG is a two-week intensive unit that brings students from the Monash campuses in Melbourne and Malaysia around KL and Penang. Students must go on site visits to answer a research question of their choice (in groups) relating to sustainability and development. Experiences include (but are not limited to) urban farming/composting at Kebun-Kebun Bangsar, taking a hike with orang asli to learn of their daily lifestyle, learning of KL's heritage by walking around the heart of the city and asking questions, planting mangrove trees with PIFWA, learning about spices and how to cook local dishes at Batu Feringgi's Tropical Spice Garden, and learning about the langurs and endangered species at Penang's Botanical Garden with Langur Project Penang. Students must ask questions, make comparisons with the situation in Australia and reframe the issues Malaysia is facing in their final presentation. As a student who had undergone GIG in early 2023, I applied as pastoral (i.e. student caretaker) for the program in Nov 2023 and Jan 2024. The tasks of a pastoral for this programme involves the following: - Ensuring students are where they need to be, at the right times, - Being the first point of contact for students regarding any non-academic issues, - Checking on the students' health and safety so they are fit to continue and complete GIG, - Adapt to the situation when the need arises and liaise with the team to ensure the program runs smoothly.

Mathematics Tutor
Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
As a full-time student, I teach children mathematics in my spare time as a way to retain knowledge from my physical sciences background. Personally, I love mathematics and despite being a Film Major, I still took a math unit as one of my free electives. I am very new to tutoring but my first student received a C after an F the previous semester Alhamdulillah :D
