About
Usha Srinivasan is the Founder and CEO of three business in Education (Passion Froot), Employment (BReady.ai) and Economic Development (Accidental Canadian consulting). The three businesses are not only interconnected in their mission to solve societal challenges but leverages decades of Usha's expertise. Prior to this, Usha served as the Founding Director of the Brampton Venture Zone at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), where she launched and led a university-affiliated incubator in the Downtown Brampton Innovation District, supported by the City of Brampton. She successfully managed the incubator for five years and secured its renewal for another five, ensuring its continued impact. A recognized leader in Canada's innovation ecosystem, Usha has spent over 15 years designing some of the sector’s most distinctive startup support programs. Before her work at BVZ, she was Vice President of Partnership and Talent at Elevate Tech Fest. She has co-founded several ventures, including the foodtech startup Hauschef, the French bakery Petit Paris, and the vintage reggae record label Sid Buck Records, and now BReady talent, her first not-for-profit focused on supporting SME’s with finding talent using an AI-enabled talent matching platform. She is also an angel investor and Limited Partner at Flair Ventures, a fund focused on BIPOC entrepreneurs. Earlier in her career, Usha was a founding team member at MaRS Discovery District, rising to the role of Vice President of Venture and Talent Programs. She previously worked as a Research Manager at Frost & Sullivan, advising multinationals in environmental, water, and building technologies on M&A and market expansion strategies. Usha holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences from Abertay University, a BSc in Environmental Microbiology from the University of Bristol, and completed the LEAD Corporate Innovation program at Stanford. She was also an NSERC Fellow at the University of New Brunswick and an NRC postdoctoral fellow at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. She has lived and worked in multiple countries throughout her life from India, Iran, UAE, UK, US and calls Canada home since the late 1990's. Her ability to work across cultures and geographies come from being a global citizen. A life lived with empathy, respect for everyone and guided by compassion.

BReady talent was initially created to support the underutilization of immigrant and BIPOC talent in the Peel Region - the program has now expand across Southern Ontario and soon will be moving to other provinces.
