Undertook a research project titled "Wave Optics: A Theoretical and Computational Exploration" under Dr. Koustav Dey, Missouri University of Science and Technology, through the REYES Mentorship Programme at UC Berkeley. The project focused on modelling wave-optical phenomena such as diffraction, interference, and polarisation through analytical methods and simulation-based approaches. Conducted literature review and shadowed ongoing academic research across levels. In the process, I also learnt about fibre optics technology and its foundational principles, and prepared a report and presentation synthesising key concepts explored during the mentorship. Explored broader applications in photonics, optical instrumentation, and wave-based imaging systems. This work helped me to build a deeper understanding of light-matter interactions, laying a strong foundation for advanced research and understanding in core optical physics concepts, with broader relevance to photonics and optical engineering.

Participated in UC Berkeley’s REYES STEM programme, covering particle and nuclear physics, magnetism, and computational techniques. Explored statistical mechanics and many-body systems through theoretical models describing collective behavior, phase transitions, and emergent order. Completed the Python4Physics track, applying numerical methods and visualization tools to solve problems in classical and statistical physics. Developed a working understanding of how computational and theoretical approaches complement each other in modeling physical phenomena. Shared independently developed code and findings with instructors, which led to structured feedback and a formal written analysis of the work. Also attended the Multi‑Particle Reactions Summer School, which focused on lattice QCD, scattering theory, effective field theories (SMEFT, χPT, NN EFT), ab‑initio methods for light/medium nuclei, and fundamental symmetries. Engaged with lectures delivered by researchers from a global network of institutions, including universities and national laboratories such as Cambridge, RIKEN, LANL, Jefferson Lab, and UC Berkeley. Gained exposure to advanced theoretical frameworks and computational techniques central to contemporary particle and nuclear physics research. The school emphasized connections between low-energy phenomenology and quantum field theory, offering early insight into methods used in hadronic structure, nuclear interactions, and symmetry-breaking processes.

Worked under Dr. Vyas Akondi in the domain of wavefront sensing and adaptive optics. Investigated the behavior of Zernike polynomials under pupil resizing to model aberrations in optical systems. Implemented MATLAB-based simulations to analyze wavefront errors and optical path distortions with varying aperture sizes. Studied the impact of pupil geometry on Zernike coefficient accuracy and explored applications in ophthalmology and microscopic imaging systems.

I joined IISER Berhampur in September 2024 as an undergraduate in its flagship BS-MS Dual Degree Programme to pursue my passion for pure science, particularly theoretical and experimental physics. The interdisciplinary, research-driven curriculum offers rigorous training in core sciences and early exposure to advanced concepts and labs. While my primary focus is physics, I also explore mathematics, computer science, chemistry, and biology to build a strong foundation in scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and research.

As a member of the Cultural Sub-Council at IISER Berhampur, I help plan and execute diverse cultural events that foster creativity and community on campus. I coordinate with cultural clubs and student bodies, manage event logistics, and support festivals, competitions, and workshops in collaboration with the C-SAC President. My role also includes budgeting, inter-departmental communication, and promoting inclusive participation in cultural programming.

As a Placement Sub-Council Member at IISER Berhampur, I support initiatives that strengthen the institute’s industry-academia interface and enhance student career prospects. My role involves employer outreach, internship and placement facilitation, maintaining databases, coordinating with recruiters, and organizing skill-development sessions. I also contribute to outreach materials like brochures and websites, while actively engaging with alumni to foster mentorship and expand opportunities for students. Through strategic coordination, I aim to boost placement outcomes and elevate the institute’s industry presence.

As Coordinator of Pixophiles, the Photography Club of IISER Berhampur, I ensure seamless coordination across departments, oversee group activities, maintain the club's website, and design promotional graphics to boost Pixophiles visual appeal and outreach. My role involves managing club activities and events to enhance member engagement, maintaining an up-to-date and smoothly operating club website, and designing graphics for promotional materials and projects.

As a core committee member of Pixophiles, the Photography Club of IISER Berhampur, I am responsible for managing various club activities and events to enhance member engagement. My role also involves overseeing the club's website to ensure it remains up-to-date and operates smoothly. Additionally, I design graphics for promotional materials and club projects, significantly boosting the club's visual appeal and outreach.

As a Core Member of the Newsletter Subcommittee at 137 Inverse, the Physics Club of IISER Berhampur, I contribute to the creation of our bi-weekly physics newsletter, which highlights recent discoveries, inventions, and captivating stories in the world of physics. My role involves researching, writing, proofreading, and editing articles to ensure clarity, accuracy, and engagement. I collaborate with fellow contributors to maintain the newsletter’s academic integrity while making complex topics accessible and exciting for our readers across disciplines.

At 137 Inverse, the Physics Club of IISER Berhampur, I develop well-researched articles that elucidate complex physics concepts, fostering curiosity and excitement among our readers. My contributions not only highlight recent advancements in the field but also aim to inspire our community to collectively explore the remarkable wonders of the universe!

As the Campus Coordinator for Mimansa, the flagship national-level science competition organized by IISER Pune, I spearheaded the outreach and logistical efforts at IISER Berhampur. Being recognized as one of the top 20 Campus Coordinators nationwide, I played a pivotal role in bridging the gap between the national organizing committee and the local student body. My responsibilities centered on driving large-scale engagement, fostering scientific curiosity, and ensuring a seamless experience for participants.

As the Content, Newsletter, and PR Co-Lead of Q Cell, the official quizzing club of IISER Berhampur, I co-develop engaging newsletters and quiz-related content that highlight intellectual discourse and critical thinking. My responsibilities include curating quiz summaries, writing thought-provoking articles, and collaborating with team leads to maintain the club’s editorial quality and consistency. I also lead the club’s public relations and social media presence, managing outreach across platforms and designing communication strategies that enhance visibility, engagement, and creative impact.

As the Event Manager for IIEC, the Innovation, Incubation, and Entrepreneurship Cell at IISER Berhampur, I plan and coordinate events that promote innovation and entrepreneurial thinking among students. I work closely with the team to organize workshops, speaker sessions, and interactive activities, ensuring smooth execution and meaningful engagement. My responsibilities also include creating promotional content and managing outreach to enhance the cell’s visibility. The role demands strategic planning, creativity, and collaboration to cultivate a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem on campus.

As a core committee member of Naxatra, the Astronomy Club of IISER Berhampur, I help organize celestial observation sessions using Telescopes, academic talks, and outreach events to cultivate interest in astrophysics. I also manage the club’s digital presence, ensuring timely updates and engagement. Additionally, I design astronomy-themed snippets and promotional content, enhancing the club’s scientific outreach and visual identity.

As the Event Manager for the Naxatra, the Astronomy Club of IISER Berhampur, I am responsible for planning, managing, and organizing a variety of club events to ensure they are successful and engaging. I work closely with team members to coordinate all aspects of event logistics, from conceptualization to execution. Additionally, I create compelling content to promote our events and activities, enhancing the club's presence and member engagement. My role involves multitasking, effective communication, and creative problem-solving to deliver memorable experiences for our club members.

Selected for an 8-week research training program led by Dr. Fei Dai, with a focus on observational astronomy, data analysis, and exoplanetary science. Analyzed real datasets from TESS, Gaia, and MAST to extract transit features and radial velocity signatures. Created scientific scatter plots and time-series visualizations to interpret orbital dynamics. Gained experience in UNIX and shell scripting for workflow automation and data processing. Completed multiple assignments weekly, followed by mentor-guided discussions to refine methodology and analysis. Participated in literature reviews, interactive tutorials, and portfolio-building activities aligned with graduate-level research communication.

I'm currently a second-year student at IISER Berhampur, diving into an exciting blend of foundational sciences. My journey here has been a mix of rigorous academics, hands-on research, and exciting campus-life.

Dropped out to pursue my passion and a career in research.

At DPS, I explored my passion for science and math while also diving into sketching as a creative outlet. I loved participating in quizzes and other extracurricular activities. I was a Recipient of Utkrist Kushagra Award for Academic Excellence for 5 consecutive Years years (2015-20), Satatam Award for 100% Attendance Record (2018).
