About
I am an award-winning, multi-disciplined visual artist based in Birmingham. I work with the photographic medium, through which I create visual metaphors to address pressing social and environmental issues. I draw inspiration from contemporary situations, reimagining them to offer fresh perspectives on the world, encouraging viewers to reconsider the familiar from a different vantage point. I approach my practice as "painting with photography," where I blend conceptual storytelling with a documentary approach. Deeply influenced by conceptualism and surrealism, my work often highlights themes that require heightened awareness, such as the anthropological impact on our planet and global social challenges. Through my art, I aim to communicate issues that may have been overlooked or to which society has become desensitised, presenting them in ways that are both thought-provoking and visually compelling. In my freelance career, I have collaborated with notable clients, including Birmingham City Council for ArtsFest and the RSPB Charity, bringing my artistic vision to diverse projects. Art Direction
Students on the Art Direction Short Course learn about the skills and processes required to work as professional art director. During the course, students learn the fundamental art direction skills, including the principles of visual communication, semiotics and the significance of analysing trends and campaign case studies. Students undertake various practical exercises and learn how to create concepts for photoshoots and TV adverts. The course covers several topics including art direction in editorial and advertising, mood boards, producing a campaign, photoshoots and video production. By the end of the course, students will have learnt the skills and principles of art direction. They will also have developed their confidence in generating creative ideas and communicating these visually in a successful, unique and professional manner.
