About

I am an early-career microbiologist committed to laboratory-based and translational research in infectious diseases, with a particular focus on antimicrobial resistance in clinically significant respiratory pathogens and viral pathogens such as the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). My current work centers on Mycobacterium abscessus and M. tuberculosis, where I apply phenotypic assays, whole genome sequencing, and computational modelling to investigate resistance mechanisms and identify novel therapeutic targets. I also have research experience with other high-priority bacterial pathogens, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Vibrio cholerae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Dengue and HIV. By integrating molecular microbiology with bioinformatics, I aim to advance innovative approaches for overcoming drug resistance and improving treatment outcomes. My broader research vision is to contribute to global health by developing evidence-based strategies for tackling multidrug-resistant infections and translating mechanistic insights into actionable solutions.

Designed and delivered student-centered lectures and lab sessions in Microbiology, Immunology, and Public Health using interactive and evidence-based methods. Developed and revised course content to align with national standards and global trends in microbial research and disease prevention. Supervised undergraduate research projects, fostering scientific writing, laboratory skills, and critical thinking in emerging public health threats. Mentored students on academic progression, research opportunities, and career pathways in biomedical sciences and public health. Led and participated in departmental research aligned with national health priorities, contributing to peer-reviewed outputs in virology and antimicrobial resistance. Utilized digital tools (e.g., PowerPoint, virtual platforms) to enhance delivery of complex topics in virology, epidemiology, and bioinformatics. Served on curriculum development and academic quality assurance committees to advance microbiology and infectious disease education.
