About
During my Ph.D., I developed nature-inspired peptide sealants for wound healing and trauma care. By integrating fibrin-mimetic self-assembly with mussel-inspired wet adhesion chemistry, I created biomaterials that surpass conventional fibrin glues in adhesion, clotting efficiency, and biocompatibility. I validated these sealants through ex vivo and in vivo studies, along with structural and biochemical analyses. My work connects chemistry, materials science, and biology to design advanced therapeutic biomolecules for surgical and trauma applications. Having a solid interdisciplinary background is one of my key advantages. My PhD in the interface of Chemistry and Biology from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research at Kolkata, one of India's leading science institutes, has helped me broaden my knowledge and explore new perspectives in addressing critical problems. Coming from a multicultural society in India, I am also highly adaptable and can easily manage various roles. Connectedness and empathy are my strengths; I am a team player and bring a positive attitude. As a postdoctoral associate in Yale's Department of Cell Biology, I am pioneering new methods to synthesize peptides and polymers that enable spatially precise extraction of membrane proteins into native membrane nanodiscs. These innovative nanodiscs open the door to advanced applications, including TIRF microscopy, mass spectrometry, and structural analysis, empowering researchers to explore membrane proteins in their native context. My vision is to solve real-life scientific problems in biosciences, contributing to the value-based economy and society at large. Additionally, I wish to be involved in outreach activities to create awareness and general interest in science.

Recently I have completed my PhD in Peptide Chemistry from IISER-Kolkata, Department of Chemistry. My research at IISER-K, in Dr. SinhaRoy’s lab focuses on the advancement of blood arresting materials. These materials are completely peptide-based bio-polymers. Some of our designed peptide-based agents have exhibited considerable blood clotting time similar to indigenous fibrin and such peptides might be translated for developing advanced hemostatic agents. I have rich experience in peptide designing and synthesis including purification and mass spec analysis. I have learned peptide characterisation using various microscopic techniques such as AFM, FE-SEM, TEM, CRYO-EM. I also have knowledge of tissue culture facilities, several biological assays and have experience in in-vivo model. Besides, I also have opportunity to work in the area of protein biology like expression of recombinant protein, purification (affinity chromatography) and characterization (UV-vis, CD etc). I have published one scientific paper and filed one Indian patent. Two other papers are in communication row. I got an opportunity to present my work at the 10th International Peptide Symposium-2018 Kyoto, Japan. Currently, I am seeking for suitable postdoctoral position or industry based job.
