About
I have a role to play in the leadership of this country; as an active participant and respected thought leader on matters related to Competition. It's true what they say: "We spend our lives trying to find our passion, but sometimes the passion finds you." I have always had a keen interest in the relationships between private entities and the government. There is potential to achieve a lot of the country's developmental goals through harnessing this relationship. Through cooperation between the state, business, and social partnerships we can overcome the social ills that continue to plague us, such as poverty and inequality. Working in the sphere of Competition Law and Policy has driven me to want to achieve efficiency in the economy, promote employment, and ensure equality for more South Africans, including myself, my family, and future generations. I believe that there is an important role to be played by the various stakeholders in the country. In support of this, I have hosted several workshops and seminars with industry stakeholders to educate them on Competition and the impact that some of their business decisions have on the market. Some of the topics include: • The Impact of the 4th Industrial Revolution on Competition Policy and the Economy. • Workshop on Barriers to Entry for Youth Entrepreneurship in South African markets. • The impact of 20 years of competition regulation and the way forward – a dialogue with business and labour. • Funding for a growing and inclusive economy: Promoting Competition and addressing concentration concerns through development funding. • The impact of competition policy and the competition authorities’ interventions on consumer welfare. Outside of work, I have also published several articles that represent my views on Competition in SA. They are written in my personal capacity and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Competition Commission. NOTE: The articles can be accessed in the Publications Section of my profile. Please feel free to connect or send me a message - let's keep the conversation going.
