We are a research and user-interface-design consultancy with one mission—fitting products to people.Founded in 1991, Design Science was one of the first consultancies to focus on the person/product interface. We have deep roots in those product categories where usability is mission critical—particularly medical devices, but also other products that are tools: commercial, industrial, or consumer.Our specific services include: Human Factors consulting and Usability Testing to optimize the comfort and ease of use of products. Ethnographic Research to discover the realities of actual product use and uncover user needs. Interaction Design and Prototyping.

Works with a team led by Dr. Peter Reese, a Attending Physician in the Renal Division at the Perelman School of Medicine. Studies the effects of incentives on medication adherence in dialysis patients at various dialysis clinics in Philadelphia. Also studies long-term physical and psychological outcomes in live kidney donors as well as individuals turned down for donation. Work includes conduction of telephone interviews, study administration to patients at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, data collection and statistical analysis. Shadowed Dr. Reese and colleagues at the Penn Transplant Institute, including observation of general rounds, patient visits at HUP and nearby dialysis clinics, and observation of kidney transplantation surgery.
