"Over the long term, the bright future is attained by only optimists and positive thinkers." I have been privileged to be at the right place (India) at the right time and learnt a lot with a rich experience of over 1.5 decades working in high growth environments. Here are few key learnings: 1) It takes 'Patience' to build a business - As a co-founder and a participant in building ~INR 500 crore ARR business (Magicrete), I have learnt to stay focused. Every business, I know of, has faced existentialist crisis at some point of its life, but once you come out of it, you realize that it has made you smarter and wiser. 2) Be 'old-school' when it comes to profitability - 'Cash burn' unfortunately was celebrated in last decade. Our DNA has always been to look at profitability in every transaction and still believe in it firmly. Though few/rare high growth business (CAGR > 40%+) may be fine with a burn mindset for 3-5 years, 99% of the founders should avoid 'burn' mindset. 3) We are lucky to be surrounded by 'tech' - We supply few thousand trucks every month (and equal number coming in) across our 6 manufacturing plants, with the support of our entire finance/tech team at a single location. We can't thank enough to the superpower 'tech' backbone, which has been possible due to the digital wave in last 3 decades. A major reason behind the success of most of the startups !!
