About

Shruti Sharma is an Associate Director and Fellow with ORF. Her work focuses on understanding risks emerging from biotechnology research and ways to boost India’s bioeconomy. In addition to studying ways to strengthen biosafety and biosecurity in India, she works closely with stakeholders from the government, academic and scientific community, and representatives from the private sector to explore avenues of collaboration within India-U.S. TRUST Initiative, India-U.K. Technology and Security Initiative, and India-Australia biotechnology partnership. Before this, Shruti was an Associate Director and Fellow with the Technology and Society Program at Carnegie India. Alongside her work on biotechnology policy and biosafety and biosecurity, she was also the Chief Coordinator for Carnegie India’s annual flagship event called the “Global Technology Summit” which brings together world leaders, entrepreneurs, technologists, and academics from around the globe to discuss issues of technology policy, such as tech diplomacy, data privacy and protection, digital finance, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology. She holds a master’s degree in biotechnology from Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Noida.
