I've often been told I'm "too soft" for HR, as if being approachable is a flaw. There's a misconception that HR requires being distant, strict, and guarded—but that’s never been my way. I believe in balance: being firm when necessary, but kind always. HR isn’t just about rules and payroll; it’s about people. Fear doesn’t encourage people to open up—trust does. I remember a check-in with an employee who broke down unexpectedly. They told me, “I didn’t know who else to talk to.” That moment affirmed why I chose HR. Kindness doesn’t mean I lack boundaries; it means I care while still standing for what’s right. I've made difficult decisions and had tough conversations without losing my humanity. True HR isn’t about instilling fear—it’s about being remembered for how you treat people. If being approachable earns me the label of "friendly HR," I take it as a compliment, not criticism. Connection matters more than control, and I’ll always lead with empathy and heart.
