Ballance Agri-Nutrients Limited is one of New Zealand's leading fertiliser specialists, with manufacturing plants located in Whangarei, Mount Maunganui, Invercargill and Kapuni. The company is a 100 per cent farmer-owned cooperative, with 700 staff located across New Zealand. Following centralisation of the purchasing management function, I was appointed Group Purchasing Manager with responsibility to centralise all contracts, fleet management and procurement functions, and to realise efficiencies and cost savings by implementing strategic purchasing initiatives. I was responsible for developing strategic purchasing policies and procedures, implementing a new standardised purchasing systems, initiating new expense authority policies and management systems, and developing national and international tenders and supply contracts. I utilised my strong relationship building skills to develop new suppliers and maintain key strategic relationships, locally and internationally, with travel to Chile and Peru.
