I am a dry bulk commodity markets expert with a first class Hons degree in Economics and nine years of experience in analysis and consulting. Over the past five years I have worked in commercial functions in Mining and Resource companies in Singapore (Anglo American and BHP), independently setting up the analysis desks, building robust price forecasting supply and demand models, influencing senior management in their strategic business plans as well as working closely with the front office by providing analytical support for commercial decision-making. I started my career with Drewry Maritime, working in the Dry Bulk research and consulting team where worked on a number of industry leading dry bulk freight forecasting publication, handled bespoke consulting projects and acted as a key interface with external media through industry interviews and as a speaker in a key international conference.

As lead Freight Analyst, I independently set up Anglo’s first ever Freight Analysis desk - developed all models from scratch as well as set up key databases within nine month of joining. I was also heavily involved in formulation of freight strategy by providing industry overview and market outlook and actively participating in strategic decision making process I developed Anglo's first bulk freight Supply & Demand bottom-up model to forecast future freight rates. This was done by synthesizing global commodity trade, shipping movements, port congestion data as well as ship supply (additions and removals forecast) to arrive at future fleet utilisation estimates. Statistical relationship was analysed between freight rates and utilisation to forecast future freight rate.
