Die casting and injection mold tooling design engineer with around 2.5 years of industry experience in Tier 1 automotive programs, working in Siemens NX on HPDC, injection mold, and tooling projects in Ontario.At 1 Source Design Ltd., I work across new builds, refurbishments, PPAP submissions, and DFM reviews. My day-to-day includes surface modeling, BOM management, vendor coordination, engineering changes, shop-floor visits, and documentation support across active programs. I also spent time on the shop floor early in my role, working directly with machinists on live tooling programs, which changed how I think about manufacturability, drawing intent, and production reality.Before that, at Five Star Tool and Die, I built my technical foundation working full-cycle tooling programs end to end. That included parting and shut-off surfaces, core and cavity development, gating, cooling, ejection systems, GD&T application, NX Mold Wizard component libraries, and reverse engineering existing tooling. Across those programs, I managed more than 2,000 technical documents and learned how to connect design intent with practical shop-floor execution.After my Bachelor's, I worked in my father’s business in India, supporting engineering, operations, and business functions. My final-year bachelor’s project, the e-Booster, was also built from scratch with him, including fabrication, welding, grinding, and final assembly. That experience shaped how I approach design: not just whether something works in CAD, but whether it can actually be built, assembled, and supported in the real world.I also use AI as part of my day-to-day workflow to work faster and stay focused on design work. I use it to source BOM components, extract technical data from long documents, and reduce repetitive research overhead. I’m also building a web-based tool to solve a recurring problem in small tool and die shops: communication gaps between R&D, shop floor, and procurement around inventory and component ordering.Thank you.
