Job Functions • Manage the development and maintenance of the commissioning pack • Assist producers with budget pack planning and submissions for local productions • Advise on and monitor production expenses and financial submission reports • Manage, review and evaluate budget submissions • Review and evaluate report findings on producer financial deliverables. • Assist the business with financial aspects of contracting • Check and sign off contract approvals • Manage all petty cash transactions • Manage the cash flow forecasting and advise the business accordingly • Reconstruct and reconcile production accounts where necessary • Coordinate and assist with production audits • Manage forensic auditors with queries relating to production accounts both internally and externally • Research and analysis of statutory laws and industry related requirements to keep database and information resources up to date • Save 2% of the annual content budget • Budget controlling and monitoring • Ensuring that proper records and filing systems are maintained within the department. • Manage the reporting process and compliance for all productions:  Monthly reporting for productions  Variance analysis  Preparation of budgets and forecast  Costing and recoveries  Presentation of quarterly reviews

Whilst doing articles I have gained experience on a vast majority of industries, therefore gaining in depth understanding of various business models and structures. I mainly focused on the auditing of Productions (TV and Films) for Production Houses in the Western Cape. I have dealt with numerous audits including organisations such as the DTI (Department of Trade and Industry - Film Incentives) and NFVF (National Film and Video Foundation). Acted as management accountant for some of my accounting clients and needed to supply them with management accounts on a monthly basis (also assist in financial decision making). I have audited companies stretching from NPO's, retirement villages right through to retailers. Overall enjoyed all the aspects that I have covered and wouldn't trade the experience I have gained at Meredith Harington Chartered Accountants for anything else. Duties: Identification, evaluation and assessment of risks facing the entity Identification and evaluation of the design of internal controls and testing of the effectiveness of those controls – provision of recommendations where improvements are necessary and appropriate. Application of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs). Application of the Companies Act, 2008. Application of the King Code III and consideration of appropriate corporate governance practices – provision of recommendations for improvements where necessary. Application of the Income Tax Act and the Value Added Tax Act (and calculation of the related taxes). Reconciliations between detailed schedules, age analysis, general ledger accounts and financial statements. Review and preparation of financial statements in accordance with the applicable reporting framework. Contract (engagement letter) and report creation. Project and team management. Review of junior team members’ work. Overall management of junior team members.
