Shaan Subramaniam, Ph.D.

Completed a multidisciplinary PhD project in quantitative proteomics investigating a novel endocytic pathway. Fusing cell biology and quantitative mass spectrometry, developed a pipeline for profiling the contents of cell membranes. Honed the ability to communicate information concisely and accessibly through written reports and presentations at conferences and symposiums. Trained new PhD and MSc students, providing practical guidance and advising on experiment design Taught and demonstrated on multiple courses at graduate and undergraduate level. Analysed results using appropriate statistical methods to assess the biological significance of findings. Managed collaborative research projects with partners in the public and private sector.

Conducted experiments in support of research aims, including yeast 2-hydrid assays and western blotting, resulting in 2 publications. Supported projects in the lab through preparation of media and solutions, promoting workspace organisation and safety. Managed stocks of essential reagents and equipment, liaising with suppliers to ensure fresh materials were ordered in a timely fashion.

Completed Basic and Advanced Section Leader training courses (SISPEC) as part of National Service in Singapore. Fulfilled various administrative and organisational roles in Human Resource department of 1st Battalion Singapore Guards, learning how to manage and motivate others.
