IT Professional Project Designed and configured a lightweight Linux CTF virtual machine from scratch to facilitate practical cybersecurity training for the university. The project included 5 sequential challenge scenarios covering network exploitation, password cracking, Linux privilege escalation, cryptography, and basic offensive security forensics. Flag 1 & 2: Implemented a vulnerable vsftpd 2.3.4 backdoor service and weak SSH configurations to simulate service exploitation and password cracking scenarios. Flag 3: Configured a Linux sudo privilege misconfiguration to simulate local privilege escalation scenarios and demonstrate insecure permission management practices in Linux environments. Flag 4 & 5: Implemented encrypted PDF and steganography-based challenges to demonstrate protected document recovery and hidden clue discovery within an ordinary image file.
