Coaching and mentoring incoming law students from underrepresented communities. I will be teaching them basic legal doctrines, but also providing general mentorship and guidance.

I worked on redistricting issues, conducted interviews, and learned impact litigation strategy.

In this role, I worked primarily on housing issues. However, I did expand my knowledge regarding Title VII. I drafted legal documents, and I participated in litigation strategy meetings.

Working with the Legal Director, I assist with researching Title VII, writing memos, and policy work. I also prepared complaints.

I organized over 700 new workers into the union; led roughly 250 workers on strike in two hotels during Chicago’s first city-wide hotel strike in 2018; and represented the union in labor-management meetings with high-level hotel representatives regarding several issues including working conditions, hotel policies, and grievances. Before leaving this position, I first-chaired negotiations with a nursing home facility in which I secured significant raises and cheaper but higher quality insurance for 100 workers.

Executive Assistant to the Executive Director. In this role, I researched legislative policies, wrote speeches, and created presentations for the Executive Director’s speaking engagements. I also drafted memoranda and strategic plans for the Executive Director regarding such topics as the ride-sharing economy, Washington D.C.’s metro service, and the prison contractor Securus.

I developed and delivered a high school English curriculum and social activities to combat recidivism to a class of seven incarcerated male scholars ages 14-21 at the New Beginnings Juvenile Detention Facility in Maryland.
