Sebastian Munden CBE
Chair @ WRAP
About
I work at the intersection of industry and public policy driving real change with companies and sectors through innovation towards a more circular economy. I believe that the collaboration between businesses with government towards these goals can be a force for good for all stakeholders. A senior adviser and chair, leading collaboration across sectors to transform design, material and packaging ecosystems, eliminate waste, and accelerate decarbonisation through innovation that wins market share and improves the economy. I was awarded a CBE in His Majesty’s New Year’s Honours list 2026 for services to Business and to the Circular Economy. Previously, I was chief executive of Unilever UK & Ireland, and 30+ years in the fast-moving consumer products industry across the world with Unilever. I have recently been appointed Chair of the Board of Directors for the non-profit organisation UK Packaging PRO. Created by industry and backed by organisations representing nearly half of the UK’s EPR fees, UK Packaging PRO will help shape a packaging system that works better for people, planet and producers by ensuring industry’s insights are reflected in the UK's packaging recycling scheme. I am Chair of WRAP, the global environmental action NGO working with governments, businesses and other NGOs to transform the food, textiles and manufactured product systems and embed Circular Living in every boardroom and every home. I am also Global Chair of Ad Net Zero, the advertising industry’s not-for-profit member-supported programme providing tools and resources to help marketing and advertising to decarbonise and accurately promote more sustainable products, services and behaviours. Co-author of "Sustainable Advertising - how advertising can support a better future" with Matt Bourn, shortlisted for Business Book of the Year 2025. I am working with Pack UK and DEFRA as independent chair of the advisory EPR Scheme Administrator Steering Group, and have worked with the Mission Zero Coalition on circular economy, and the British Chambers of Commerce on practical policies for the future of the local economy. I have served on steering groups for industry associations, The Institute of Grocery Distribution, The Food & Drink Federation, The Inclusive Economy Partnership run by the Cabinet Office, Henry Dimbleby’s independent national food strategy, and for Movement to Work, an organisation supported by many employers to introduce young people to the workplace through a life-changing placement. I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
