As a senior research assistant, I have many responsibilities in addition to performing molecular embryology research at the bench, which is a true passion. I train post-docs, graduate students, and undergraduates to design & perform well-controlled experiments, always challenging them with alternative hypothesis-based scenarios. I teach them skills/techniques in molecular biology, microscopy (light & confocal), histology, RNA in-situ hybridization, and immunostaining. I prepare my own peer-reviewed manuscripts and assist others in writing papers; I edit grant proposals perpared by my PhD principal investigator; I manage the lab's chemical inventory and monitor chemical safety and biosafety within the lab; I prepare and submit Animal Care/IACUC protocols; I order supplies. I am constantly reading and reviewing the scientific literature to keep up with the latest findings and technologies in Developmental Biology research & disease modeling using animal models and human pluripotent stem cells.
