In 2005–2008 Sathyasree was the program coordinator for Sangama- a human rights organisation working for protection of the rights of Sexual minorities in Bangalore in particular and Karnataka at large. She was responsible for coordinating the advocacy work and the services division of SANGAMA in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Gujarat. She was also involved in fund raising for SANGAMA and the associate organisations.

During 2003 – 2005 she worked with drought-hit farmers and their families through Voluntary Action Network Anantapur (VANA). She held the position of the Coordinator of VANA network of NGOs organised to mitigate drought in the semi-arid drought prone region of Anantapur district. This project was funded by EED, Germany and was also a member of the FCFC. The members of the network implemented various projects such as dry land development works, watershed works, building people’s organisations, micro-credit activities etcetera. Her responsibilities entailed, project formulation, reporting, field and finance monitoring, liaison with the government and EED their donor, fund generation, advocacy and lobbying from a network’s purview apart from being the overall executive head of the organisation and it involved also the administrative tasks as well.

Her responsibilities entail working through grant-making towards supporting and facilitating innovations on Reproductive and Sexual health intervention among young people in India. Under PHLS she supports work in Chattisgarh and Odisha.

Sathyasree completed her community health fellowship (2005- 2006) with Community Health Cell (CHC) Bangalore. During the fellowship period understanding and working on policies of health and healthcare specifically the then launched National Rural Health Mission of Government of India was carried out. She has supported 120 health workers in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh to formulate strategies towards realizing the right to primary health care. She was also an active member of the Jan Swasthya Abhiyaan in monitoring government programs and working towards right to primary health care. She has been a part of the Health and Human rights Course conducted by CEHAT and TISS both as a participant and a faculty.
