Experience

Graduate Research Assistant
Developed an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), employing a Generative Adversarial Network for image enhancement and a Fully Convolutional Neural Network for plastic object detection. Assembled and integrated them on Raspberry Pi kit connected to AUV’s flight controller and tested various functionalities.

Project Intern
Worked on Energy Disaggregation methods of smart meter data to improve the accuracy of the itemized energy bills. Researched and implemented various Deep Learning and Evolutionary Algorithms to predict energy consumption of various devices using smart meter data and device ratings, and to design personalized incentives to reduce energy consumption at peak hours. The challenge was to solve for complexity due to varying operating characteristics of each device and in handling huge loads of dynamic real time data. Implemented Fully Connected Network and LSTM Networks, and improved the Mean Absolute Error compared to Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring Tool kit model(NILMTK) by 8%.

Project
Maximum Power Point Technique in Photo Voltaic(PV) Systems employing grid connected converter under Dr.Senthil Kumar : Proposed a system based on a 3-level clamped inverter that uses Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation and Synchronous Reference Frame Theory which provides independent control over active and reactive power injection into the grid, while simultaneously tracking the maximum power point of the PV array, with Total Harmonic distortion of grid current of 4.86%, under IEEE 519 standards.

Research Intern
Developed electrical reconfiguration technique to improve the MPPT: Developed the relative best electrical reconfiguration technique and tested using MATLAB to improve the Maximum Power Point under partial shading conditions at different insolation levels to deliver optimum power and voltage to the grid.

Industrial Internship
Underwent the training in the Research & Development section of New Product Development and Analysis Department regarding components used in the respective PCBs and Horn Switches in various Melody Maker Electric Horns. Soldered, Trouble shooted the faulty components in the PCBs
