Saswata Bhattacharya

At Google, I serve as a Tech Lead for applied machine learning initiatives within internal developer and productivity tooling. I drive system architecture, model evaluation strategy, and production integration of ML systems that power code-related AI capabilities such as intelligent test generation, failure analysis, and contextual code suggestions. I also lead development of a configurable agentic system for conversational generation of structured business artifacts, focusing on system design, evaluation-driven iteration, and scalable integration of ML components.

I led a cross-functional team at Zoho comprising Machine Learning Developers, Backend Engineers, and Machine Learning Researchers. In this role, I provided both technical and people leadership — defining system architecture, guiding model design and experimentation, and driving delivery of Machine Learning features for Zoho’s flagship product, Zoho CRM. I was responsible for hiring, performance management, and mentoring, while serving as the technical lead for scalable ML system design and production rollout. My work spanned multiple ML domains, contributing to projects such as Zia Presentation, Zia Strategy Influencer, Dashboard Component Suggestions, Search Suggestions, and Conversational AI (Ask Zia and Convokraft).

As a Member of Technical Staff, I led research, development, scaling, and productionization of Machine Learning systems across classical ML and NLP domains. I drove system design, model experimentation, and integration pipelines for projects including Anomaly Detection, Time Series Prediction, Email Enrichment, and Augmented Analytics. I also contributed to technology stack decisions and mentored junior engineers while providing technical guidance.

As a Programmer Analyst at Cognizant, I played a key role in the maintenance and development of the backend systems for US healthcare client, Cigna. Additionally, I contributed to process management analytics, using data insights to optimize operational efficiency and support decision-making.
