The main objective of the course was to provide knowledge that would enable the students to participate in health provision at hospitals and health centres in developing countries. The first two weeks addressed issues of disease patterns and health care delivery, as well as the biological and socio-cultural contexts of health in developing countries.The following week focused on International Health and Tropical Medicine. The health problems relating to urbanization and water supply were discussed as well as the provision of health in emergencies and to refugees and how to avoid doing harm in the post phase of an intervention
