About
I have 6 years of applied research experience in the field and laboratory, working on aspects of western corn rootworm movement and mating behavior crucial to the success of insect resistance management in Bt cornfields. I also have 4 years of experience teaching undergraduate courses in integrative biology including laboratory instruction, discussion instruction, lecture instruction and use of active learning to convey difficult topics. In the future, I plan to obtain a position in applied entomological research, teaching biological topics or government science advisory related to agriculture. My graduate research focuses on western corn rootworm (Diabrotica virgifera virgifera LeConte) biology related to resistance management efficacy in Bt cornfields. Professional interests: ecology, behavioral ecology, plant-insect interactions, integrated pest management, insect resistance management, invertebrate physiology, animal mating systems, and species identification.
