Whilst working in Nabarro's London office I worked on a number of portfolio investment transactions both with and without leveraged finance, acting for a number of large institutional investors. I also acted for a number of funds (including a specialist healthcare fund) in the forward funding of developments ranging from healthcare facilities to supermarkets to student housing. I further explored my interest in mixed residential and commercial buildings and developments and advised on the acquisition and sale of several mixed use buildings.

During my time at Nabarro in Sheffield I acted predominantly for institutional investors dealing with portfolio asset sales and purchases and landlord and tenant work. I also co-ordinated the team responsible for the £240m re-organisation and sale by way of unit sale of the Junction retail parks in 2012. I assisted a large client in streamlining their management procedure in relation to mixed residential and commercial buildings.

At Addleshaws in Leeds I acted predominantly for institutional investors and lenders in the sale, purchase and management of individual properties. I also acted for landlords in relation to agreements for lease with development obligations. I was involved in the title investigation and acquisition by way of asset purchase of a particularly large parcel of mixed agricultural and residential unregistered land in Hampshire. I advised on the residential occupational aspects of the property (it was affected by Rent Act tenancies) and dealt with the subsequent sale off of individual parcels. I also acted for lenders in relation to distressed mixed use assets attempting to unravel and correct existing flawed management structures.

My training contract was with Dickinson Dees LLP in Newcastle and I benefitted from being one of a handful of trainees. This gave me greater opportunity for client contact. I then qualified into the Urban Regeneration team and split my time 50:50 between site assembly and development work (acting predominantly for housebuilders) and for investors buying, selling and managing individual assets.

Working at Proctor & Gamble in Rome on a banking project to relocate all banking operations from Rome to the UK.

Teaching English as a Foreign Language to children and adults (business and conversational).

Since joining Reed Smith I have co-ordinated teams acting on the acquisition by way of share purchase of over £500m of investment property, including three business parks and a mixed use portfolio. I am also currently structuring the development of a proposed mixed residential and commercial development with a view to maximising capital receipts, income and flexibility.
