* Conducted lake surveys to identify fish, fauna and soil types by using various equipment including, gill nets, sein nets, trap nets, Ekman dredge, etc. Types of surveys include, Fall Walleye Index Netting, Fish Community Index Netting, Spring Profundal Index Netting, Spawning Surveys, Ontario Stream Assessment Protocol, Electrofishing Surveys, Telemetry Surveys, etc. * Collection of biological data from fish – fork length, total length, weight, sex, stomach contents, age structures, etc. * Chemical analyses of water samples to determine Dissolved Oxygen, pH and turbidity. * Tabulating data to prepare report summaries. * Lake contour mapping using BASS (Bathymetric Sidescan Sonar). * Project design, including, scheduling, site selection, notifying communities, maintain records, trailing equipment to site, training interns. * A/OFRC website: http://www.aofrc.org/aofrc/ * http://www.aofrc.org/aofrc/2009/07/aofrc-humble-heroes.html

A two year diploma program with plenty of hands on opportunities as well as lab work. Fleming also offers a week long field camp that focuses on fisheries assessment techniques. The Fish and Wildlife program is the only one in Ontario accredited by the North American Wildlife Technology Association (NAWTA).
