On Contract with L&T MPS Dept Programming of L&T Energy Meters at Tata Power Customer Premises

I began my career as a Junior Engineer with VG Engineers, a contractor that played a pivotal role in my professional journey. My first assignment was at the BMC Sewage Pumping Station near Mahim Beach, a state-of-the-art facility designed to remove impurities from wastewater. Despite its proximity to the sea, the station was constructed to global standards, featuring advanced automation systems to control all equipment. One of the most remarkable aspects of this facility was its dedicated substation from BMC, a rarity in India at the time. I had the unique opportunity to work with a slip ring induction motor, imported from Germany, which operated at 6.6kV. This motor was equipped with a 360-degree rotating starter and was used to drive a pump located three floors below. The control mechanisms and waste removal screens, measuring 30 feet in height and 10 feet in width, were designed to withstand even the harshest storms. My responsibilities included overseeing the operation and maintenance of the plant, where I gained invaluable experience in automation. The installation of a Distributed Control System (DCS) allowed me to manage all operations efficiently. This role provided me with a comprehensive understanding of various starter systems, including DOL, star-delta, and HDOL starters, all integrated with the advanced technology of that era. This experience was a cornerstone in my career, offering me the chance to explore and master numerous aspects of electrical engineering. It laid the foundation for my growth and development in the field, equipping me with the skills and knowledge that have been instrumental in my journey as an engineer.
