Experience

Director of Site Engineering, eBay
San Jose, California, United States
As the Head of Telemetry and Monitoring at eBay, I oversaw the development, engineering, and implementation of a robust telemetry and AI platform at an enterprise scale. I led a globally distributed team in realizing the vision of constructing and managing log, metric, and distributed tracing platforms internally, facilitating the processing of a daily volume ranging from 2 to 4 PB of application logs, events, 20 billion active time series, and traces. Notably, our achievements included the creation of a Planet-scale metric platform (eBay's implementation of Google's Monarch paper recommendations) and the adoption of the Open Telemetry standard across the technology stack during my tenure. The role also involves leading a dedicated team of SRE-focused AIML engineers in Shanghai and over the same timeframe we improved the accuracy of causality analytics from <70% to >90%.

Sr. Director - Platfrom Services
San Francisco Bay Area
I was the driving force behind the product strategy, incubation, engineering, buildout, and organization-wise adoption of the enterprise-scale Observability Platform Service at Visa. Under my leadership, my team has built the OperA Platform for processing metric, log, & and distributed traces to enabled real-time analytics, anomaly detection, and better command center tooling for the Reliability Engineering teams. The platform is now enabling the next generation of Payment products at Visa (Visa Token Service, Visa Direct, and Open VisaNet)

Director - Mobile Applications
As the leader, I played a key role in the program for shipping Visa's inaugural white-labeled issuer app. Visa Digital Commerce App (VDCA) has enabled a comprehensive mobile application offering an array of pre-configured features such as transaction alerts, mobile transaction control, mobile wallet, proximity payment, pre-paid card management, mobile check deposits, and additional functionalities. With the successful onboarding of the first 25 issuers, VDCA now boasts a thriving portfolio of issuing banks and its consumers, catering to emerging markets and earning recognition as one of the leaders in this category.

Manager: Payments 2.0
This was a major rewrite of PayPal’s Payments processing stack (a.k.a Payments 2.0) to become a continuously available (CA) infrastructure. This was one of the top strategic initiatives that overhauled PayPal’s payment stack having deep as well as wide impact to help PayPal grow and support incremental Payment volume (TPV) and improved overall system availability.

Sr Program Manager
I spearheaded the high visibility program for the development of a novel merchant-branded checkout experience utilizing PayPal's DCC APIs. This initiative also marked the pioneering introduction of the first lightbox-based UX tailored for PayPal, with a focus on emerging markets. Through a series of usability exercises and A/B testing, we enhanced product capabilities and successfully launched the product MVP within a remarkable timeframe of under 8 months. Hosted Sole Solution (HSS, H3S), Verified by Visa (VbV), GAPX – Global Acquiring Product Expansion (EU,APAC), International Virtual Terminal (France), Risk Flexible Reserves, Unified Onboarding.
