Research involved studies of glass fibre/polymer composite (also sandwiched structures) behaviour under low velocity impact. It included experimental testing, modelling with FEM, and non-destructive evaluation of composite materials. This work was directly related to my master thesis: "Experimental determination and numerical simulation of impact properties of structural PP/GF composites" (supervisor: Dr. Kaspars Kalnins).

The PhD research project is a part of the work carried out in the Danish Centre for Composite Structures and Materials for Wind Turbines. The aim of the Centre is to enhance the reliability and damage tolerance of materials implemented in wind turbines.
