I assisted in caesarean deliveries, vaginal deliveries, circumcisions, amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, bilateral tubal ligation, performing obstetrics ultrasound, antepartum and postpartum care, managing high risk pregnancies such as pre-eclampsia, preterm premature rupture of membrane, multiple gestations, diabetes in pregnancy, preterm contractions. My roles included taking history and performing physical examination on obstetrics patients, triaging obstetrics emergencies, rounding on antepartum and postpartum patients every morning, presenting in morning round table discussions, presenting in Departmental Wednesday Seminar (I presented "Complications of Multiple Gestations" to the Obstetrics faculty). The sub-internship gave me a full hands-on clinical experience more than I ever had in a single rotation as a medical student. I used the opportunity to improve my suturing skills, communication and interpersonal skills and my obstetrics knowledge.
