I assisted in developing turnaround and workout strategies for the larger more complex files in the Bank. I developed and implemented the process for appointing third party advisors along with providing training to the various teams. I also set up monthly strategy surgeries to assist managers in calling out the key issues within their files and to provide an open forum where strategies could be discussed openly with the Senior Leadership Team. Furthermore, I assisted the Senior Leadership team with various internal projects.

Following NAB’s decision to withdraw from the Commercial Real Estate Market in April 2012, NAB UK CRE was set up to allow for the management and orderly run off of all the Commercial Real Estate customer loans of Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank. Following my successful secondment with the Bank I was asked to design, implement and manage the Business Assurance Team for NAB UK CRE. The purpose of the Business Assurance Team is to provide the Leadership Team with assurance on the file strategies being adopted by the Relationship Managers across their portfolios. The Business Assurance Team reviews files from the Commercial Real Estate, Specialised Commercial Real Estate and Credit Teams. The role also includes business improvement initiatives. Initiatives are identified during the file reviews and include the development of more robust systems, standardised practices (including the design of financial analysis templates) to improve consistency across the UK and the identification and implementation of training requirements for Relationship Managers.
