About
I'm all about design: when well constructed code meets a well designed user interface, magic happens. My goal is to be at the intersection of these fields and to use my skills in art, computer science, computer graphics, animation, data analysis and algorithm generated design to help create software that is beautiful to use, both on the front-end and behind the scenes.

Our study focused on exploring how much Ella Coben and I could affect a person's movement before they become aware that what they are seeing visually is not what is happening to them physically. The second part judged how much the process of spatial updating relies on movement. Our goal was to focus on awareness thresholds that participants have for actual movement vs. perceived movement. The study concluded with a final research paper that can be found at : http://www-users.cs.umn.edu/~merritt/finalreport.pdf To read about my experience, visit http://www-users.cs.umn.edu/~merritt/index.html

university of pennsylvania
Worked as a teaching assistant for Professor Benedict Brown. The first semester, I acted as a mentor: holding office hours, helping grade exams and homework, and working one on one with struggling students. The second semester I ran a recitation with another student, managed homework grading for my section, and helped with exam grading as well as designing several homework assignments.

Google's mission is to organize the world‘s information and make it universally accessible and useful. Since our founding in 1998, Google has grown by leaps and bounds. From offering search in a single language we now offer dozens of products and services—including various forms of advertising and web applications for all kinds of tasks—in scores of languages. And starting from two computer science students in a university dorm room, we now have thousands of employees and offices around the world. A lot has changed since the first Google search engine appeared. But some things haven't changed: our dedication to our users and our belief in the possibilities of the Internet itself.
