In August and September 2017 I acted in the role of Senior Planning Officer. This involved taking on the additional responsibilities of the Senior Planning Officer, including development applications, in combination with my usual tasks. This experience also provided me with the opportunity to supervise the newer members of the Development Assessment team and to provide direct feedback to the Manager Development Assessment with respect to business systems improvement and various other matters.

This position involved minor statutory local planning duties, including assessing development applications, providing planning advice to rate-payers, architects and other professionals, consulting with applicants and land owners, preparing reports for managers and Council meetings as well as site visits/reports.

Continuing on from my competitive swimming experience in high school, I began casual work in pool life-guarding, swim teaching/coaching and customer service. I developed important interpersonal and team-work skills over my years working at Bold Park Pool in various roles.

Local planning policy and scheme review, assessment of structure plans and scheme amendments, review of internal strategic planning processes, business systems improvement, preparation of community consultation materials (including graphic presentations), preparation of and participation at community information sessions, editing the City's My Say engagement website, general website editing and updates, general statutory and strategic enquiries, assessment of development applications and local development plans.

Continuation of my previous duties as an Assistant Planning Officer, however now in a more intensive, full time role with a customer service focus. Most of my work relates to statutory planning responsibilities (commercial and residential), State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) appeals, Development Assessment Panel (DAP) applications, dealing with general planning enquiries and compliance investigations. I have also been involved with community consultation exercises relating to the Town's Housing Options Study as well as the Wembley Town Centre/Floreat Forum Studies. In 2015, I assisted the Town with research and advice in respect to the implementation of a Design Advisory Committee. In 2014 I received an award from the Town recognising my high quality of work and strong customer service skills, which I am continuing to develop into 2015-16. In addition to my planning responsibilities, I have also been a member of the Town's Disability Access and Inclusion Committee since 2013.
