Sal serves as Head of Global Employment Law for HP.

Sal serves as Senior Employment Counsel, Americas at HP. In this role, he counsels HP on employment matters across the Americas (Canada, U.S., LATAM).

Sal served as Senior Lead Employment Counsel at CrowdStrike. In this role, he counseled CrowdStrike on U.S. and international employment matters (LATAM/EMEA/APAC). Handled all aspects of U.S. and international (EMEA, APAC, LATAM) employment matters, including advice and counsel on talent acquisition, performance management, terminations, conflicts of interest, wage and hour, internal investigations, employee privacy, leaves of absence, global expansion, Occupational Safety /Health, COVID-19, OFCCP compliance, and litigation. Developed legal processes/procedures to allow CrowdStrike to scale from 2,300 to 7300+ employees. Served as main contact for Occupational Safety/Health matters, including investigations, audits, and compliance matters in the U.S. and internationally. Conducted legal compliance audits including wage and hour, health & safety, handbooks/agreements, data privacy, recruiting/on-boarding, and other policies/procedures. Drafted U.S. and international offer letters, at-will agreements, severance packages, employee handbooks, non-solicitation/non-compete agreements, equity agreements, and internal policies/procedures. Selected and directed outside counsel to address litigation and regulatory agency matters, including managing litigation budgets to ensure cost effectiveness competency/responsiveness. Drafted/conducted management training for U.S. and international employees on various employment topics including recruiting, internal investigations, performance management, and health/safety.

Advised and represented employers in all areas of labor and employment law. Practice focused on matters involving workplace safety, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance, discrimination, retaliation, FLSA collective actions, Texas workers’ compensation retaliation, and non-competes/non-solicitations. Managed/coordinated client engagement with government entities, to advance business objectives/policies, regularly advised clients in all areas of employment law practices and policies, employee discipline and counseling, conducted internal/external investigations, and prepared various internal agreements, including non-disclosure/non-solicitation agreements. Provided management training on various employment-related topics, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Family and the Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and OSHA compliance. Representative experience: Managed Fortune 500 company's engagements with various governmental entities, including OSHA, at nationwide level to ensure business policy/strategy were advanced in a consistent manner. Represented multi-national clients during OSHA investigations, through the citation phase, at informal conferences, and before the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. Counseled and advised Fortune 500 Companies on safety compliance, the preparation of workplace safety policies and procedures, and conduct manager and supervisor training on employee safety and health. Defended multiple Fortune 500 companies in complex mass-collective action disputes, requiring management of nationwide litigation teams, including E-Discovery, Document Management, and brief writing. Conducted over 600 internal investigations for Fortune 100 Company. Led a nationwide team of twelve attorneys tasked with gathering all data, interviewing witnesses, and analyzing the issues in line with the Company's internal policies/procedures. Practice focused on civil litigation in the area of professional liability. Represented attorneys, real estate brokers, accountants, and other professionals in malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty claims. Also handled creditor's rights, including debt collection and mechanic’s lien matters on behalf of subcontractors and business entities. In addition, handled business and transactional matters, such as LLC formations and trademark filings at the state and federal level. Representative Experience: Defended attorney accused of legal malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty deriving from representation of an individual seeking to purchase a multi-million dollar mineral interest. Mineral interest owner sought seven-figure judgment from attorney, alleging that he tortiously interfered with the sale of the minerals to a third-party bidder. Defended attorney accused of legal malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty deriving from the representation, as outside corporate counsel, of a corporate entity involved in the purchase and sale of high-value assets. Board of the corporate entity was replaced, and the new board alleged attorney failed to provide proper security in lines of credit for the purchase of assets. Structuring and formation of a multi-million dollar LLC specializing in the purchase and sale of high-value real estate. Represented business entities in filing and obtaining trademarks with the Texas Secretary of State and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Represented business entities in the prosecution of trademark/service mark violations.

First-chair trial experience, including cross-examination of expert witnesses; assistance in voir dire; argue pre-trial evidentiary motions; and preparation of opening/closing arguments. Routinely prepared and responded to written discovery; drafted and argued dispositive motions; prepared pre-trial and trial pleadings; negotiated settlements; and conducted/defended depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses. Also had experience preparing appellate briefs. Communicated with key clients on a regular basis and undertook client development. Representative experience: Structured and formed a multi-million dollar company specializing in the purchase and sale of high-value real estate. Assisted construction client with payment and performance bond claims in a multi-million dollar governmental project. Counseled multi-state engineering firm on the issues related to the formation and licensure of related entities in new markets throughout the United States. Advised clients regarding the identification and protection of intellectual property, such as Trademarks/Service-marks, and provided due diligence in securing registration of such intellectual property at the state and federal level.
