Salman Ahmed

I am a Senior Researcher at the Artificial Intelligence Research Center (AIRC), National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Tokyo, Japan, with over 12 years of research experience in Japan. My research interests broadly span data management systems and scalable intelligent data processing, with a particular focus on real-time and distributed data-intensive systems. Over the years, I have worked on a wide range of topics including databases, stream and real-time processing, distributed algorithms, big data systems, geospatial and trajectory data management, graph stream processing, data mining, online analytical processing (OLAP), and large-scale data integration and analytics. More recently, my work has focused on scalable streaming architectures for dynamic graph and trajectory analytics, distributed processing frameworks, real-time mobility intelligence, graph neural networks (GNNs), and AI-driven geospatial data systems. I am particularly interested in building adaptive, scalable, and intelligent systems for processing continuously evolving large-scale data. I received my PhD in Computer Science (Data Mining) from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, in March 2014. From April 2014 to March 2018, I worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Tsukuba on projects related to real-world big data integration and analysis. Currently, at AIST, I am involved in research and development of scalable AI/data platforms, real-time route optimization systems, distributed stream processing frameworks, and intelligent mobility data analytics.
