Salman Ali, Ph.D.
Laser Scientist @ MOGLabs
About
I hold a PhD in Applied Sciences focused on environmental sensors with a specialisation in the fabrication and characterisation of advanced humidity and gas sensors based on nanostructured organic and inorganic materials. My research extends to the development of organic solar cells, with a primary focus on creating low-cost, printed, and coated technologies aimed at a smart, sustainable future. Currently, I am a Laser Scientist at MOGLabs, where I develop low-cost tunable Cateye and Littrow lasers, as well as injection-locked amplifiers. These technologies are essential for applications in quantum computing, spectroscopy, laser cooling, optical communication, and space exploration. Project Management & Environmental Monitoring Experience: • Managed and led multidisciplinary projects on the development of environmental sensors, focusing on real-time monitoring solutions. • Oversaw the integration and validation of gas and humidity sensors for medical and environmental applications. • Coordinated cross-functional teams to optimise materials characterisation for sensor performance in various environmental conditions. Key Skills: • Device Fabrication: Extensive experience in fabricating organic solar cells, and capacitive and amperometric sensors using various wet and dry deposition techniques. • Analytical Techniques: Proficient in utilising AFM, SEM, XRD, TEM, and TGA for analysing material properties and surface morphology. • Toxic Gases Sensing: Skilled in the detection and management of toxic gases, including risk mitigation strategies. • Publication and Communication: Published research in reputable journals, including "Sensors and Actuators B Chemical" and "Journal of Materials Chemistry C." • Optical/Laser Systems: Proficient in the production, alignment, quality control, and testing of optical and laser systems. • Innovation and Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to enhance sensing performance through innovative approaches. • Collaboration and Teamwork: Successfully collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to achieve research goals and contribute to advancements in the field. I am eager to connect with professionals interested in sensor technology, materials science, optics and lasers. I am open to opportunities for collaboration and discussion on the future applications of sensing and optical technologies.
