Started a new internal audit department. Created job descriptions, interviewed and hired staff. Authored the audit charter and departmental operating procedures. Met with other county department heads to introduce the benefits of internal audits, determine and prioritize audit needs, and forecast an annual audit plan. Conducted and supervised internal audits of county departments and presented results to management and the Board of County Commissioners. Managed the department budget.

Audited member organizations/National Governing Bodies for compliance with grant funding agreements. Performed internal audits of organizational departments for efficiency, compliance with policies, and best practices. Presented audit results to management via written reports and oral discussions. Consulted with client organizations on business practices including internal controls, accounting system design, budget processes, and operating procedures. Served on inter-departmental committees and task forces. Presented audit summaries to the Audit Committee. Trained incoming auditors in organizational policies and audit procedures. Provided traditional accounting services including financial statements and tax returns, overseeing client billing, determining the need and usefulness of special client projects, and enhancing client relationships. Management consulting services included strategic business planning, forecasting, budgeting, business valuations, design and implementation of accounting systems for start up businesses. Trained and mentored entry level staff. Taught in-house continuing professional education.
