My 1st year PhD project has involved utilising an in vivo fluorescent imaging technique to non-invasively monitor acute and chronic liver injury in various preclinical models Additionally, i have applied Magnetic Resonance Imaging to non invasively track liposomes in an acute model of liver injury.

Subsequent to finishing a degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Northumbria, I enrolled in Master of Research course (MRes) at Newcastle University studying Medical and Molecular Biosciences. The MRes project aimed to investigate Serotonin Transporter (SERT) disturbances in dementia by utilising imaging techniques such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Single-Photon Emission Tomography (SPECT).

The course provided a broad-based education in all aspects of biomedical science, including biochemistry, genetics, haematology, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, pathology, physiology, toxicology and transfusion science. There was a strong emphasis on laboratory work, transferable skills, independent learning, group work and communication skills. The final year included a research project, whereby I was able to carry out independent research in the field of neurosciences. The project aimed to assess sensory perceptual threshold in humans.
