Researched on Kinematic analysis of plantigrade locomotion in humans under the guidance of Professor Abhijit Chanda using Excel, SRSspline, ImageJ and Adobe tools. Worked on the generation of cubic spline curves to correlate the movement of shoulder, hip, knee and ankle joints from the bipedal walking gait video recordings of 20+ human subjects with the age and load carried. My project consisted of the following - - Assimilation of video recordings of human walking in several data groups differing in age, height, weight, amount of load carried, presence of gait anomalies owing to physical deformity etc. - Observing and analyzing frame-by-frame the several distinguishable features in the gait cycle of the test group, in particular the displacements in the shoulder, hip, knee and ankle joints while locomotion, the variation in the hip-knee-ankle angle throughout the motion range etc. - Computing other important parameters viz. velocity and acceleration of joints, degree of smoothness in displacement profiles. - Contrasting the results among the several data sets
