As a Research Assistant specializing in Persian linguistics, I investigate how focus is expressed through prosodic patterns and syntactic structures. My work contributes to a deeper understanding of information structure in Persian and supports ongoing academic research in theoretical and applied linguistics. Key Responsibilities: Conduct literature reviews on Persian prosody, syntax, and focus marking Analyze linguistic data using qualitative and quantitative methods Identify and annotate prosodic features such as stress, intonation, and pitch patterns Present findings in reports, presentations, or conferences

My role involves: Shelving and Organizing Materials: Ensuring that books, journals, and other materials are correctly shelved and organized according to library classification systems. Administrative Support: Performing clerical tasks such as data entry, processing library materials, and assisting with inventory management. Digital Resource Management: Assisting with the management and organization of digital resources, including scanning and digitizing materials.

Conducted phonetic and acoustic analysis using Praat to examine speech production and perception data. Annotated and reviewed text and audio datasets. Identified transcription errors, misalignments, and non-native or ambiguous linguistic forms.

I worked as library clerk in John A. Weir Memorial Law Library. Responsibilities: Assisting patrons with borrowing books, DVDs, CDs, and other materials from the library's collection; accepting returns of borrowed materials, checking them back into the library system, and ensuring they are shelved correctly; providing assistance to patrons seeking information, whether it's finding books, locating specific resources, or answering questions about library services; monitoring the library space to ensure a quiet and conducive environment for studying and reading, addressing any disruptive behavior or noise complaints; shelving returned materials and conducting shelf-reading to ensure items are in the correct order and properly organized on the shelves.

As a Sustainability Scholar with the City of Edmonton, I contributed to advancing the city’s sustainability goals through research, analysis, and collaboration. I conducted literature reviews, jurisdictional scan, case studies, and data collection through interviews to inform policy development and strategic planning initiatives. I also helped communicate findings and recommendations to City of Edmonton regarding integration of Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) into City's land-use planning and development projects.

I was chosen as the "Distinguished Student" by the Office of Exceptional Talents and Honored Students. I had the first GPA among my other classmates. So, I had the opportunity to study a master's program (French Literature or French translation at Shahid Beheshti University) without participating in the national entrance exam of universities.

My research studies how prosody and syntax interact in marking focus Persian. I am studying acoustic correlates of prosodic focus marking in different syntactic structures (clefts and non-canonical structure). In Regarding perception, my research will expand on which acoustic correlates help native Persian speakers to encode focus location (contrastive subject focus, contrastive object focus, and broad focus) in utterances.
