Safa Moten
Graduate Research Assistant - Qualitative Assistant for Community Health Worker Project @ UTHealth Houston School of Public Health
About
Hi, my name is Safa! I’m a public health professional with a Master’s in Epidemiology from UTHealth and hands-on experience supporting data-driven community health initiatives in Harris County. I'm passionate about using real-world data to improve health outcomes—particularly for underserved populations. Over the past several years, I’ve worked across multiple public health programs, leading COVID-19 data teams, supporting research projects on childhood lead exposure, and collaborating on school-based interventions like CATCH Healthy Smiles. Along the way, I’ve gained practical experience with STATA, Atlas.ti, and REDCap, building a strong foundation that I’m now expanding as I transition into the field of health data analytics. Currently, I’m strengthening my skills in SQL, R, and Python, and actively applying to analyst roles where I can bridge my public health background with technical tools to drive meaningful, data-informed decisions. If you’re working in health data—or have made a similar career shift—I’d love to connect and learn from your journey!
