Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Nursing at the University of New Brunswick, I am actively engaged in clinical research, leadership, and student initiatives. As a Research Assistant at the NB Heart Centre, I contribute to projects ranging from post-cardiac surgery rehabilitation trials to systematic reviews on autologous blood transfusion, supporting evidence-based practice and improving patient outcomes. In addition, I serve as President of NBAMN, SRC Food Coordinator, and Projects & Research Coordinator for the UNBSJ Green Society, where I lead initiatives focused on health, sustainability, and student engagement. Clinical Research Assistant
In my role as a Research Assistant with the NB Heart Centre, I support cardiovascular research and health system improvement initiatives through both clinical trials and systematic reviews. I contribute to a pilot randomized controlled trial evaluating cycle ergometry in post-cardiac surgery patients, assisting with pre- and post-operative functional assessments (SPPB, 6MWT, grip strength, frailty evaluations), patient surveys, data collection, and study logistics. I also help create training materials, participate in mock trials, and track adherence to interventions, supporting the research team in executing study protocols and capturing patient-centered outcomes. I also primarily manage a systematic review and meta-analysis examining the clinical effectiveness of autologous blood transfusion in adult cardiac surgery patients, with guidance from supervising investigators. I conduct literature searches, screen studies, extract and organize data, and synthesize outcomes related to transfusion volume, postoperative complications, ICU stay, and mortality. Through this work, I contribute to knowledge translation and evidence-based recommendations aimed at improving patient outcomes and informing best practices in cardiac care.
