The Seek Initiative is a non-profit organisation that empowers community leaders, activists, citizen journalists, and NGOS to effect change through grassroots investigations. Recognising that communities possess the most profound understanding of their challenges and needs, Seek provides the necessary resources, training, and mentorship to facilitate impactful research. Central to Seek's methodology is the "10 Pathways of Investigation," a comprehensive framework encompassing various investigative techniques such as social media research, geolocation mapping, public records analysis, and interviewing skills. This framework guides individuals and communities through a structured investigative process, from initial mapping to achieving tangible impact. Seek also fosters a global network of investigative experts who offer training and mentorship, enhancing the capabilities of citizen investigators worldwide. This collaborative approach ensures that investigations are thorough, credible, and resonate within the communities they aim to serve. Recent initiatives include the "Environmental Investigators Citizen Journalism Fellowship," launched in January 2025, which trains European journalists to engage citizens in environmental investigations.

Independent newsrooms are essential for vibrant, democratic societies, yet we often face challenges with existing technologies that usually fail to meet our needs. Those with small teams and limited resources frequently encounter products that require difficult trade-offs between security, functionality, and data ownership. Many tools are designed by large tech firms that are unresponsive to the unique needs of our organisations. This can lead to inefficiencies, additional workload, and conflicts of interest, primarily when a newsroom investigates a company whose tools it uses. So, how can journalism hold tech companies accountable while using their systems? And how can we improve the safety, security, and ethical practices of the technology we use to produce journalism? These are some of the core tenets that the Full Stack Journalism is built on. FSJ is a project that supports the independent media sector by proposing practical solutions through community-driven efforts and was launched in May 2024 to empower independent media by creating a tailored tech infrastructure to enhance their operations and support sustainable, ethical, and secure growth without compromising the values on which independent journalism and media are built. Full Stack Journalism is supported by Stichting Democratie En Media.

Dust in Translation is a boutique special projects creative agency made up of journalists, analysts and designers, passionate about digital storytelling, data visualisation and new media futures. We believe data is like dust - it’s everywhere, and we often spend a lot of time cleaning it up. But sometimes that dust needs to be organised, reconfigured and looked at closely in order to make sense of it. Data analysis is a process of translation, and our mission is to help you make sense of the data and turn it into a compelling story. Our team has worked with brands from Airbnb to Lush, Easyjet to Adidas and Facebook to Google. Our journalists place stories in publications including The Guardian, The Financial Times, Wired, VICE, The Economist, The New York Times and Vogue, to name just a few. We help you build stories that are true, engaging and stand the test of time, so you can interact with your audiences in new and novel ways. Our network of journalists across Europe are specialists on their beat. Whether food or fashion, money or mobility, technology or travel, we help you produce high-quality editorial content for your audience that stands the test of time. For publishers, we partner with you to manage and produce special projects using our network of the best writers across the globe. For brands, we can help you launch your own editorial projects. For startups and new businesses, we can help you build and execute an editorial strategy to help educate your audiences about your products.
