Managed 2 development teams: 1 development team focused on backend services, text and data processing, high performance, scale and data storage. Relevant languages: Ruby, C/C++, Perl 1 development team focused on software designed to stress and report on other software. Relevant technologies: Ruby, Ruby on Rails, MongoDB, redis, resque, JMeter Both teams follow Agile practices (XP, continuous integration, TDD, automation).

Software development for the defense/analysis industry. Product is a large, complex system for ingesting, disseminating and organizing information (aren't they all?). Ruby on Rails front end with a myriad of technologies in the back end (C, Perl, Ruby, SQL databases, Berkeley DB, in-house storage). Team is responsible for the scalability and performance of the system. Leadership role: Responsible for team of 5-8 in an agile environment, project management, coordinate team needs with product and company requirements, responsible for removing any impediments blocking the team from progressing in their work, report system and team information to product owner and managers. Technical role: Evaluate the performance of our system under load, investigate potential bottlenecks and inform other teams, work with clients to understand growth and scalability requirements, develop tools to replicate system and user load from client information, assist other development teams in planning and executing new features with performance and scalability in mind, develop and maintain tools to better stress and understand the system.

Leadership role: project management, employee management, forecasting and team planning, financial and vendor management. Technical role: Programming in .NET, C#, Progress, Java. Hardware/software installation and maintenance. Diagnosis of technical issues and solutions.
