Ryan Stonick
Founding Robotics Engineer @ yondu
About
I have a strong interest and expertise in robotics, autonomous navigation and artificial intelligence, which I have applied at Yondu AI. Warehouse robotic automation is great fun. I enjoy giving advice when I have the time so feel free to reach out, I'll try my best to help. In the past I have led teams to design and build a fully functional scientific research rover for the URC competition, using C++, Python, ROS, LiDAR, and computer vision. I also was at Rivian, where I worked hands-on with the sensors, embedded software systems, cameras, and ECUs to integrate self-driving features into customer vehicles at the factory. I wrote scripts that automated data processing and analytics that increased vehicle production, and I implemented the self-driving/ADAS systems in Rivian's R1 line as well as the Electric Delivery Vehicles.

Experience

Autonomous Navigation Engineer
Los Angeles, California, United States
Developing and refining the core navigation software that enables our mobile robots to move intelligently and safely. I work on solving complex challenges in real-time obstacle avoidance and path planning, directly contributing to the robustness and reliability of our robotic fleet in complex industrial settings.

Software Engineering - AI Model Training Specialist (Outlier.AI)
Santa Monica, California, United States
• Trained and optimized large language models (LLM) to generate accurate code for 4 projects (high impact, high value partner projects), completing over 100 tasks in Python and C++. • Actively contributed to machine learning applications and Python programming, ensuring high performance and accuracy. • Develop and implement code for Outlier.AI focusing on AI model training.

Mars Rover Project - Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Team
Los Angeles, California, United States
Lead a Team to Design and build a fully functional scientific research rover to be entered in the URC competition. • Autonomous Navigation design and implementation work: o Design SLAM and full autonomous navigation control system in C++ using Robot Operating System (ROS) o Computer Vision implementation for object identification (C++) o Design LiDAR and ultrasonic sensor system (Python) o Python Scripting for state machine and Sensor data acquisition.

Assistant Lab Instructor – Sensor Data Acquisition Lab
Los Angeles, California, United States
• Present lecture instructing students on how to conduct weekly lab assignments relating directly to what is being taught in the main lecture. • Grade lab reports; labs consist of building sensing circuits and using software to condition/interpret sensor data. • Referred for instructor position amongst peers based on excellent performance while a student of the course.

Self Driving Intern
Normal, Illinois, United States
At Rivian I worked to integrate self driving features into customer vehicles at the Rivian factory. I worked hands on with the sensors, embedded software systems, cameras and all related ECUs to bring together a vehicle that had full Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) while moving toward a full self-driving vehicle. -ADAS vehicle calibration -Use Python to analyze data in order to increase factory first pass yield and improve tact time -Diagnosed and repaired in-vehicle self-driving systems - Wrote Python scripts that automated processes in turn directly increasing vehicle production - Hands on implementation of the self-driving systems in Rivian's Electric Delivery Vehicle designed for Amazon

Project Engineering Intern
Venice, California
Not Impossible Labs develops “technology for the sake of humanity”. I worked alongside talented engineers who care about making a difference. I served a multipurpose role that involved helping anywhere I was needed to integrate IOT devices with custom hardware to bring ability to those with physical disadvantages.

Drafting Engineer
AIM Services
Signal Hill, CA
Used AutoCAD to draft electrical plans used for installation and city approval of commercial fire alarm system.
